Sarah Abbas is a 16-year-old Pakistani-American poet located in St. Louis, Missouri. Sarah currently attends Marquette High School and holds a 4.2 GPA alongside holding the position of captain of her school’s poetry team, co-editor and chief of yearbook, and captain of interpretation events. Sarah was born in Toronto, Canada then later moved to England then later finally settled in America. Both of Sarah’s parents were born in Pakistan. Her writing explores the essence of displacement in society through her writing as well as occasional visual art. As Youth Poet Laureate, Sarah‘s goal is for her writing to allow her audience to feel accepted and loved. Along with that she intends to speak on behalf of the silenced in and around her community.
