This summer, UrbArts brings Rustbelt Midwest Regional Poetry Slam to St. Louis for two nights of some of the best slam poetry in the country. On June 21st and 22nd in Grand Center, audiences will be treated to over one hundred poems crafted to inspire and challenge.
Registration opens Friday, February 1st at noon (CST) at UrbArts.org for teams and solo poets from the Midwest (and previous host cities). Poets from all other regions will be able to register Feb 18th. Team registration is $125 and solo poet registration is $50. Prizes are $1,500.00 for the top team and $500 for the top individual poet. Up to as many as 32 teams and 16 solo poets are welcomed to register.
All preliminary slams are free and will take place at Kranzberg Arts Foundation venues in Grand Center. The championship slam will be ticketed and scheduled for the evening of Saturday, June 22nd featuring the top poets from the preliminary rounds of the competition. Check back for prices on tickets to the finals. The host hotel has yet to be determined.
