I create for my people with the gift that was given to me by my ancestors. When I honor and uplift their voices through my art, I honor my own. My only real goal is to ensure that Black and Brown people across the diaspora never have to feel ashamed of their status, where they come from, or what language they speak. To know that they have nothing to apologize for, but to embrace our struggles and who we are. We are the roses that continue to rise out of concrete.
