Festival Expands, Quincy Troupe to Keynote
The Brick City Poetry Festival will be held Thursday, October 19th through Sunday, October 22nd at venues throughout the Greater St. Louis area. This year, Quincy Troupe is slated to give the keynote address on Sunday at 3:00 pm at the Missouri History Museum.
Brick City will offer pre-festival events this year that will include a River Styx reading at the Contemporary Arts Museum that Monday , a Eugene B. Redmond Writers’ Club event Tuesday, and a special screening of the “Roof Is On Fire,” a documentary film by David Wraith.
The St. Louis Youth Poet Laureate ceremony returns Friday, Oct 20th along with special events featuring the region’s 2017 St. Louis Poet Laureate.
New this year will be Brick City Poetry Slam open to teams and solo poets scheduled for late Friday evening and Saturday evening, offering over a $1,000 cash prize to the winning team and $250 for top individual poet. Pre-Register for the team slam here or for the solo slam here (entry fee isn’t due until September 2017).
